Prince leaks 4 songs on Indie 103.1

At this point, since he's so rarely seen, anything Prince does, whether of import or not, rates a mention. Well, this should be good news for Prince fans: The Purple One bestowed on Indie 103.1 (home of the excellent Jonesy's Jukebox and Rollins' Harmony in My Head) permission to play four tracks from his new record (soon-to-be-released on a "non-record label medium") on air last Thursday.

Here is an excerpt from an interview that The New Yorker conducted with Prince:

"So here’s how it is: you’ve got the Republicans, and basically they want to live according to this.” He pointed to a Bible. “But there’s the problem of interpretation, and you’ve got some churches, some people, basically doing things and saying it comes from here, but it doesn’t. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you’ve got blue, you’ve got the Democrats, and they’re, like, ‘You can do whatever you want.’ Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right.”

I can readily accept the possibility that a celebrity might be misquoted in the New York Post or some other second-rate rag, but this is The New Yorker we're talking about.

What is it about "the big three" musicians born in 1958 that predispose them to controversy and/or sticking their feet in their proverbial mouths (e.g. Michael Jackson's transmogrification, accusations of pedophilia and bizarre child-rearing methods, Madonna's African baby, Prince's name change and lawsuits against his fans)?

Controversy (incidentally, the name of The Purple One's publishing company) isn't always a bad thing, but this stuff is just distasteful. It's so infuriating to be a Prince fan.
