New M.I.A. video - "Born Free"

M.I.A. posted a music video to a new track called, "Born Free" on her site today. It was directed by Romain Gavras, who is the son of renowned filmmaker, Constantinos Costa-Gavras (Z, Missing). The track itself is strongly reminiscent of Mark E. Smith and Mark Stewart, but carries that unmistakable M.I.A. imprint in dryly delivered lines such as: "I don't wanna talk about money 'cause I got it/and I don't wanna talk about hoochies 'cause I been it." A new M.I.A. record will be coming out in June.

In the meantime, those who wish to check out the video to "Born Free," (which contains graphic scenes of violence) can circumvent YouTube's log-in requirement by watching it on Vimeo. Video below.
