Toronto Film Festival 2011: "Take This Waltz" Q&A

I've been a fan of Sarah Polley's since seeing her in Atom Egoyan's "The Sweet Hereafter" and Isabelle Coixet's "My Life Without Me." She directed "Away From Her" in 2006, which depicted the final stages of a marriage as Julie Christie's character succumbs to Alzheimer's disease. "Take This Waltz" will be her second feature and if the teaser trailers are any indication, it will be very good.

"Take This Waltz" was shot on digital and it looks great. It's interesting that digital cinematography has advanced so much in the past five years alone that it has become harder and harder to distinguish which movies were shot on film and which were shot in HD. And when you see how beautiful and vivid films that are captured digitally can be, (David Fincher's upcoming, "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," is one example), it becomes less important what format filmmakers decide to use.
