Sure, it seems absurd to us now. The acting is laughable, to say nothing of the premise, but you have NO IDEA how terrifying this movie can be to a six year-old. I never looked at a tub of Dreyer's the same way again.

"The Stuff" (1985)
When I was six and my brother was eight, we were traumatized by a movie on television about malevolent ice-cream. The name of this movie had dogged me for years...until last night. On a whim, I did a Google search and mystery solved! I love the internet.
Sure, it seems absurd to us now. The acting is laughable, to say nothing of the premise, but you have NO IDEA how terrifying this movie can be to a six year-old. I never looked at a tub of Dreyer's the same way again.
