Ways of Seeing

This is a two-hour long, four-part BBC series filmed in 1972 about the relationship between the spectator and works of art. Novelist, art critic, cultural historian and farmer, John Berger examines the assumptions and ideologies that inform our experience of European paintings. He wrote a book based on the program shortly after it aired, which is still(?) considered a seminal text within the field of art criticism.

Don't let the program's dated 1970's look or Berger's resemblance to Dudley Moore and Roman Polanski keep you from enjoying this tremendously fascinating work.
