Music lovers converge on Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park this weekend to watch performances by artists as diverse as MC Hammer(!), Emmylou Harris, Iron and Wine, and Gogol Bordello at the annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. The schedule boasts an impressive line-up of artists. On the Banjo stage Friday was Robert Plant and Alison Krauss featuring T-Bone Burnett. Today, the festival features Three Girls & Their Buddy (Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin & Buddy Miller), Odetta, Nick Lowe, Steve Earle & The Bluegrass Dukes and Dave Alvin & The Guilty Women (Christy McWilson, Amy Farris, Laurie Lewis, Sarah Brown, Lisa Pankratz, Nina Gerber, Cindy Cashdollar). I couldn't make it yesterday because I went to the Sigur Ros show last night or today 'cause I'm a lazy bastard, but I'm definitely going to catch Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello, Gogol Bordello, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Iron and Wine, Loudon Wainwright III, and whomever else I'll have time for, tomorrow.
